How the repo rate reaches you

  • Loans. Most new floating-rate home loans are linked to the repo rate, so a change passes to the EMI at the loan's next reset.
  • Deposits. Banks adjust fixed deposit rates on their own timetable, usually with a lag.
  • Debt funds. Bond yields often move before the decision, on expectations. Funds holding longer bonds react the most. See what the repo rate means for debt funds and FDs.
